AUDIO: Governor's weekly message: Strengthen cities while preventing gun violence

In his weekly message, Governor Markell focuses on preventing gun violence while strengthening Delaware's cities.

According to Markell, the efforts to encourage economic development and strengthen the quality of life can only success when the streets are safe. He's committed to partnering with Mayor Williams Wilmington and leaders of all of Delaware's cities to stop gun crime.

Markell says even though there's been some positives, more work needs to be done.

Markell adds a State Police Task force has been established through a partnership with Wilmington and New Castle County to supper law enforcement, and that team is dedicated to in-depth reviews of firearms transactions. It will also develop a statewide strategy to better enforce gun purchasing laws.
