AUDIO: Arson Dog from Dover "Sparks" Up for AHA's Hero Dog Award

A 10-year-old arson dog from Dover is one of the nominations for this year's American Humane Association's Hero Dog Awards.

Deputy State Fire Marshal Brian Schad is K-9 Sparks' handler. He says law enforcement canines are responsible for apprehending suspects and fining drugs and explosives during crime investigations; their training and work environment is very different from the training that accelerant detection canine teams receive:
