Cape Board Member Defends Removal of Book From Summer Reading List
By WXDE Intern

In a move that has created some controversy around the community, the Cape Henlopen school board has removed "The Miseducation of Cameron Post" from the district's summer reading list for incoming freshmen.

Their main reason was the book's excessive use of inappropriate language.

Even thought the award-winning novel was deemed age-appropriate by the Delaware Librarians' Association, the board voted 6-1 to remove it after parents voiced their concerns.

School Board member Sandi Minard explained the removal.

Minard makes it clear that the book is not banned from the school's library.
