A 28-year-old Georgetown woman is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after leaving her children alone at home.

Georgetown Police say the woman, Sofia Chilel-Niz left her home on the 300 block of North Railroad Avenue yesterday.

It was only discovered, when her husband received a call at work saying she had left the home without the kids, ages 5 and 3.

Police met with the husband at the apartment, and they found the children sleeping in the bedroom.

Police were called back to the home an hour after that when Chilel-Niz returned, and she had no answer why she left the kids alone with no adult supervision.

Police took her into custody, and she was released on bond with future court date and a no unlawful contact order with the children.
