The Indian River School District is bringing security professionals to all of its 15 schools starting in September.

Each building will have either a qualified campus security officer or a school resource officer on duty.

School resource officers are members of State Police who are assigned full-time to schools.

They will conduct regular patrols of the buildings and school property, implement comprehensive school safety plans, and make frequent checks of the exterior doors and locks.

The Indian River district is now looking for candidates with previous law enforcement experience to fill the new positions.
