UPDATE: DE Telemedicine Bill Moves Forward
Updated Thursday, April 2, 2015 - 6:34am
A bill to expand telemedicine services in Delaware is released by a State House committee for a vote in the House of Representatives.
The measure is designed to allow providers and insurers to make more use of "remote treatment" options, which sponsors say are important to patients with mobility issues, residents in rural areas or those who live a long distance from specialists.
Representative Bryon Short, D- Brandywine Hundred, says the bill was a collaboration with Health and Social Services, the Delaware Medical Society, and patient advocacy groups.
The American Telemedicine Association gave Delaware a grade of "F" in a 2014 study of telemedicine use under private insurance coverage.
