Indian River School Board Withdraws from Del. School Boards Assoc.
Updated Thursday, July 16, 2015 - 2:49am
The Indian River Board of Education votes not to renew its membership with the Delaware School Boards Association for the upcoming school year.
In a statement, Indian River Board President James Hudson says the decision was a difficult one, but that the board believes the DSBA "no longer has the capacity to represent our interests statewide and in the Delaware legislature."
The decision also saves the district more than $13,000 in annual dues, money that Hudson says the board believes "would be better spent elsewhere.
The Indian River board had been a member of the state association for more than 30 years.
