AUDIO: Rehoboth Police to Host Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Sept 12
By Jon Budler

Rehoboth Beach Police will be conducting a take-back prescription drug day on September 12.

During last Friday's Commissioner's meeting, Rehoboth Police Chief Keith Banks says the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police station on Rehoboth Avenue.

Take-back days have been very successful across the country, where people with expired or unwanted medications can turn them in for safe disposal. While the day is set aside to raise awareness, Chief Banks says drop-offs are available anytime.

According to a national study, about 30% of prescription medications go unused. Controlled drugs, such as OxyContin and other pain meds, are unsafe to dispose of in the trash or toilet. The drugs are not good for the environment, or could be found and used by another person.
