Sussex Co. voters flock to polling places for Election '16
By Mark Fowser

Delaware polling places are open until 8 p.m.
Voters are encountering long lines at some Sussex County polling places, but are generally enjoying the experience and the good weather so far.

Sussex County Elections Office Director Ken McDowell, speaking on Delaware News at Noon, said absentee balloting was a good indicator that the election would draw a heavy, possibly record turnout. The previous record was 7,100 absentees, with about 10,000 expected.

"We've got lines everywhere," McDowell said. "It's a nice day. At the places I've been, people seem to be very happy and are enjoying the day."

In the 2012 presidential election, turnout in Sussex County was 68 percent which exceeded the national average.
