Transformer in Ocean Pines, MD causes power outages
A transformer catches fire in the 800-block of Ocean Parkway in Ocean Pines, Maryland causing widespread power outages.
The Worcester County Sheriff's Office tells 47 ABC that that several traffic lights in the northern part of Worcester County were without power starting around 3:40 Tuesday afternoon; the Choptank Electric Cooperative outage map showed more than 9,000 customers affected.
Just after 4 p.m., Choptank Electric crews had reduced that number to just 138 customers still without electricity.
Because the traffic lights were affected, traffic was snarled for a short time on Route 589.
