Susan Monday is an award-winning broadcast journalist with experience as a talk show host, news anchor, and reporter. She is the host of “The Susan Monday Show” heard statewide Monday-Friday from 9-noon on WDEL 1150AM and 1017FM and Delaware 1059.

Born in Philadelphia, Susan grew up in South Jersey. A graduate of the University of Delaware and The Johns Hopkins University, Susan Monday began her career as a high school English teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools. She has also taught at the post-secondary level: at several community colleges in Maryland, Wilmington University, and DelTech.

Her first full-time job in radio was at WDEL, where she co-hosted Delaware’s Morning News. She went on to work as a news anchor at WMAL in Washington, DC and had the opportunity to learn from seasoned broadcasting professionals like ABC’s Sam Donaldson and Ann Compton. It was at WMAL as part of “The Chris Core Show” that she realized how much she liked the talk format.

After returning to the Delaware Valley, Susan worked at KYW NewsRadio and The Big Talker 1210 in Philadelphia. Working side-by-side with nationally-recognized talk professionals like Michael Smerconish and Dom Giordano continued to fuel Susan’s interest in the talk format. It was at The Big Talker that Susan had her first opportunity to host a weekend talk show and to fill-in before the Phillies’ pre-game show.

Susan has been recognized for her broadcasting work from the following organizations: The Associated Press (Outstanding Talk Show, 2013 and 2014), Delaware Press Association, and the Philadelphia A.I.R. Awards. Susan was Delaware Today’s Editor’s Choice for Best Radio Personality in 2015.

In addition to being an avid reader, Susan’s interests include bicycling, the National Parks, hiking, boating, and consignment shopping. Send her a tweet @sumospeak.
