The Delaware House is considering a bill that would decriminalize underage drinking in the state, a week after the state senate unanimously passed the measure.

Senate Bill 44, sponsored by Senator Laura Sturgeon (D-Brandywine West), would change the penalty for underage drinking from a criminal to a civil penalty, punishable by either a fine or by drivers license suspension.

The Senate passed the measure last Thursday in a 20-0 vote with one abstention. The bill's details can be found here.
