A former martial arts instructor pleads guilty in Worcester County to sexual abuse of a child.
47-ABC reports Zachariah Bennett was in court Tuesday morning and entered a plea on the first day of his scheduled trial.
The 26-year-old Bennett was arrested last year in connection with alleged sexual acts involving a student who was then 13 years old, in a van during a "field trip" to Ocean City.
The state reportedly recommended a 15-year prison sentence, with all but ten served.
The end result would be five years behind bars.
Bennett is scheduled to stand trial in Wicomico County this week on additional charges of child sexual abuse, acts which prosecutors say took place at Mitchell's Martial Arts in Salisbury.
A codefendant, Leah Wright, faces trial in the spring on charges that she acted as a lookout during some of the incidents, and participated in some of the acts as well.
