Local grocery stores continue to expand delivery and pick-up services, competing for our business.
Giant just announced, "the launch of Giant Pickup, which will allow customers to place their grocery orders online and pick them up at a local store without ever leaving their cars. Giant Pickup will begin rolling out on July 1st and will be available at 100 stores in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware by the end of the year."
With these pick-up services customers now have another option to suit their busy schedules, from shopping in-store to pickup and home delivery. Order online and the stores will hand-select, pack and load orders into customers' cars.
Walmart has remodeled and added this service to most Delaware locations already.
Locally owned Hocker's in Ocean View and Millville offers the service through the "Hocker's To Go" online service.
The end result of this competition is better service for the customer.
Home delivery will surely be next for most of these grocery stores with Amazon continuing to take business from brick and mortar stores.
