Motorists traveling between Newark, Pike Creek and the Christiana Hospital complex are going to find a tougher commute starting on Monday, June 17, 2019.

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has announced that Harmony Road is scheduled to be shut down south of Route 2 (Capitol Trail) on Monday, starting at 6 a.m.

The closure extends down to Green Ridge Road to allow A-Del Construction to renovate the bridge crossing White Clay Creek, including a new concrete deck.

The project is scheduled to last until August 1st, 2019.

Complicating matters for drivers is that Red Mill Road is already closed to thru traffic between Ruthar Drive and Route 273 for a widening project that is scheduled to last until early August as well.

Ruthar Drive, which connects Red Mill and Harmony roads, is expected to see a significant increase in traffic as a result.
