A 65-year-old man was charged in a carjacking incident Wednesday about four hours after it happened, Wilmington Police announced Thursday. 

According to authorities, Jesse Nicholson struck a woman, took her keys, and stole her vehicle from the 1400 block of North DuPont Street around 11:30 a.m. on July 10, 2019. 

Around 3:50 p.m., he was located in the 500 block of West 6th Street "in close proximity to the vehicle," according to police. Nicholson was found in possession of the keys and taken into custody, at which point he admitted to the carjacking, police said. 

He was charged with first-degree carjacking, first-degree robbery, and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $60,000 secured bond.
