Two fatal crashes in the Port Penn area kept Delaware State Police investigators busy Friday.
The first was reported around 3 p.m.--police said a motorcycle rider lost control rounding a curve on Port Penn Road near Pole Bridge Road.
The motorcycle went into a ditch, became airborne and ended up in another ditch--the rider, a 55-year-old Port Penn man, was thrown off the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second crash happened Friday night and involved an SUV whose driver lost control rounding a curve on Pole Bridge Road near Acorn Drive.
The SUV went into the front yard of a house, hit a road sign, ran over a small tree and hit a larger tree before bursting into flames.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and police believe she and the motorcycle rider were speeding.
