Wilmington Police identified a 23-year-old man who was shot, causing him to crash into the side of a downtown office building Saturday.
Police believe Emmanuel Kamara, Jr., of Chichester, Pennsylvania, was shot somewhere along Interstate 95, outside of Wilmington city limits.
The vehicle is believed to have come down 11th Street from Adams Street, before leaving the roadway at the triangle intersection of 11th and Jefferson streets at Delaware Avenue.
The vehicle ended up embedded in the wall of 500 Delaware Avenue, the building that is the headquarters for Wilmington Savings Fund Society (WSFS).
Kamara, Jr. was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The collision brought down a wall panel on the side that houses the Pure Bread Deli but officials said the damage was more cosmetic and not structural.
This incident remains under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department and the Delaware State Police.
